The cosmopolitan Chinese city was awarded the contract to host the 11th Gay Games in 2017 The organizers had envisioned it as an impressive showpiece that could put Hong Kong as a vibrant welcoming, inclusive city who isn’t afraid of welcoming free-spending LGBT visitors in a period that the nation is taking a hard stance against different ways of gender and sexual expression.
